Things to Do With Toddlers in Table View

The sand is wide, flat and firm underfoot — perfect for unsteady toddler legs. The shallows stay gentle most mornings, and there is plenty of space to build sandcastles without bothering the kite surfers further down. Arrive before 9:30 for easy parking and softer wind.

A paved, stroller-friendly walk with benches, grass pockets and views of Table Mountain across the bay. Toddlers love watching the water feature near the centre, and parents can grab a takeaway coffee from one of the ground-floor cafes while little ones stretch their legs.

A 16-hectare wetland reserve hidden inside Century City, only a few minutes from Table View. The 2-kilometre boardwalk is mostly flat and shaded, with bird hides and little bridges that feel like an adventure for 2- and 3-year-olds. Bring snacks — there are no shops inside the gates.

Parts of the Rietvlei trail network near Table View have wide, level paths that are manageable with a stroller. Early mornings are best — you will see pelicans, flamingos and ducks, which keeps even short attention spans engaged. Stick to the northern access points for the shortest walk to the water.

Slightly quieter than Blouberg main, with a long stretch of hard sand that is brilliant for toddling. The rocks at the northern end form small, warm tidal pools on calm days — nature’s own paddling pool. There is a grassy park behind the beach for a picnic afterwards.

A local green space along Beach Boulevard with shaded benches, a fenced play area and wide paths for scooters. It is not fancy, but it is reliable: clean toilets, easy parking, and a Steers or gelato shop within walking distance for a treat afterwards.
